Booking Process

GEC booking process is simple:

  • Complete our online application form at our website
  • Our leasing team will email you within 1 business day.
  • Sign your lease.
  • Make your first month’s payment, applied fees.
  • Move in and join the GEC community!
  • We are here to help! Let us know which school in Vancouver you will be attending and any room or budget preferences you may have, and we will suggest the best available options for you across all GEC student residences.
  • The length of booking process depends on information we get from inquiries. If student has confirmed move-in and move-out dates, and the requested room type is available. then the process can be 1 to 2 business days.
  • The minimum age is 19. Students aged 17 to 19 can live in Private Apartments with a waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
  • Yes, you can choose room/bed in all GEC residences. However, layout isn’t guaranteed as many room types have different layout.
  • Additional one-time request fee may apply when you want a specific bed type, e.g. murphy or twin bed.
  • You will need to be minimum 19 years old, and has registered/ LOA with any schools in Vancouver.
  • Yes, group bookings are welcomed. We encourage students to book with their friends or family members.
  • Yes, you can live with your friends, partners or family at GEC.
  • You are required to live in a private apartment if your friends, partners or family are non-student

The fees below are required to confirm your bookings (other fees may require if apply):

  • The first month rent
  • Non-refundable Amenities fee
  • 2 weeks refundable deposit, if you are paying for weekly rates
  • Half month refundable deposit, if you are paying for semester rates (longer than 4 months stay)
  • You can if you are booking with your friends, partners or family
  • We will match you based on your preferences for your roommate, you can let us know your preferences by submitting the roommate matching application form.
  • The rates may vary depends on length of stay, room type, and residences. Please inquire us to get more accurate information
  • Students are strongly recommended to secure their places 4 months before your arrival dates. We are usually fully book for Fall semester in June, and Winter semester in Aug.

Before Move-in

  • We can change your move-in date if there’s availability
  • Check-in time for all GEC student residences is 4pm, please check with your leasing advisor if you can do early check-in on that date.
  • Unfortunately, GEC doesn’t provide airport pickup service. However, we do partner with local vendor who provides airport pickup service, you can find it at Beaton’s Meet and Greet.
  • Unfortunately, we don’t provide meal option at this time. Meal prep services are really popular among students in Vancouver, you can find at HelloFresh.
  • Most GEC residences provide fully furnished apartments with beddings and kitchen supplies. However, you will still need to bring your own towels, personal hygiene products, clothing, stationeries and etc.

After Move-in

  • Yes, you can change your room or bed if there’s availabilities. Additional fees like extra housekeeping or request fee may apply
  • You can have overnight guests if you are renting private apartments (limited number of overnight guests apply).
  • GEC doesn’t allow overnight guests in shared apartments.
  • Yes, you can leave early or cancel your booking. Please double check our cancellation policy or communicate with your leasing advisor regarding fees and procedures.
  • You will need to pay rent and store your belongings if you are away during the lease term.
  • You will need to follow our move-out procedures which will be provided upon move-in.
  • No, you don’t.
  • You can communicate your concern with caretaker (depends on the residences) or property management team
  • Most GEC residences provide smart locker system for packages.
  • Our property management will notify you by email if you have mail or packages.
  • Yes if the damage was done by you. Amount of the damage will be assessed by our property management team.
  • You will need to purchase a new key if you lost.
  • There might be after hours charge if you forgot your key after office hours
  • Students are required to submit a maintenance request which will be given upon move-in.

General Questions

  • Our prices vary depending on the residence, accommodation type, and the length of your lease. If you’re curious, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to provide you with a quote.
  • Yes, there’s underground car parking available at all GEC residences with extra fees
  • We have very limited bike storage at all GEC residences. Please double check with property team upon check-in
  • To be mindful of everyone’s allergies and preferences, we do not allow pets in shared apartments. At the moment, pets are only allowed in selected private apartments. Please contact us if you have a furry (or scaly) friend that you may want to bring along.
  • Yes! All our apartments are move-in ready, so we include utilities, furnishing, and tons of other amenities. Utilities are inclusive, subject to normal/reasonable consumption.
  • No, smoking is not allowed at all GEC buildings.
  • No, sublet is only allowed if you have consent from GEC team
  • Yes, all GEC units come with in-suite laundry
  • Amenities fee is not refundable. Deposit and rent payment is refundable if a cancellation notice is given 60 days prior to lease start date.
  • Please contact our leasing team for a detailed cancellation policy
  • There will be late fee applied to late payment. An eviction notice may be given if rent isn’t received after period of time.
  • You can pay through wire-transfer or online payment platform (debit & credit cards)
  • We have few units assigned for disabled person across GEC. Please contact leasing team for more detail.
  • Yes, it’s required to have tenant insurance upon check-in. You can choose to purchase through our trusted vendor Apollo, or any other 3rd
  • Yes, we are providing beddings at GEC Viva, Pearson, Burnaby Heights, Marine Gateway currently.
  • Yes, GEC has 24/7 centralized monitoring system and staff on call for emergencies.
  • All beds at GEC are using American Standard
  • Most murphy/bunk beds at GEC are customized, sizes are similar to Twin XL
  • The rest beds at GEC are standard Double, Queen or King
  • Some units/rooms at GEC doesn’t have openable window, please double check with your leasing advisor if you have concern
  • We provide bi-weekly or weekly housekeeping services across all GEC properties. Our housekeeping will clean your unit’s common area like living room, kitchen, hallway and washroom. Please learn more at GEC Living Professional Housekeeping.
  • You can live as long as you want if we have availabilities!

Most units at GEC provide:

  • Living furniture; sofa, dinning table, coffee table
  • Fully equipped kitchen: full size fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, kitchenware and utensils
  • In-suite laundry
  • Closet
  • Bedroom furniture: beds, study desk, closet
