COVID-19 Update

March 11, 2022

The Provincial Health Officer of British Columbia updated the public health restrictions in BC.  These measures take effect Friday, March 11, 2022, which includes:

Proof of vaccination is required (12+)  until April 8.

The following GEC policies are in effect until further notice:

  1. Face masks are not required.

Face masks are not required in public indoor settings. At GEC, this includes all building common areas, such as the office, lobby, elevators, and hallways. Wearing a mask is a personal choice.

  1. Registered visitor(s) allowed in GEC Properties up to 11 pm.

Please follow the GEC house rules for guests and occupants’ restrictions.  Do not allow friends or visitors to stay in the unit after 11 pm, non-residents might be subject to eviction from the building.  No tenant is allowed to invite more than 2 guests at a time.  Fines will apply to the tenant who violates the GEC house rules. 

  1. Lounge is re-opened.

The social lounge at Pearson is currently open. 

  1. Gym – Pre-booking is not required.

Gym at Viva, Pearson and Granville are now open for our residents to use. 

  1. Continue washing your hands regularly.

Hand hygiene is still extremely important, continue to wash your hands with soap after touching high-risk zones, if soap is not available, please sanitize your hand.  Always cover your mouth with your arm or tissue if you need to sneeze or cough.

  1. Housekeeping is resumed.

  1. In-person office appointments are recommended.

With proof of vaccination and masks, these activities can return to normal.

  • Indoor and outdoor organized events.
  • Exercise and fitness, adult sports activities, tournaments and swimming pools.

To reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19, GEC will temporarily suspend the bi-weekly housekeeping service to limit the number of social interactions.  We will provide an announcement when the housekeeping service resumes.  Please contact us if you require additional cleaning supplies.

Due to the recent increased COVID cases globally, GEC continues to take direction from the BC Provincial Government. Please continue to follow COVID protocols and policies.

Please contact your on-site caretaker or your leasing agent immediately if you or your roommate test COVID-19 positive. You can also contact us with any questions you may have with regards to our COVID policies.

The Provincial Health Officer of British Columbia announced more public health restriction in BC.  The new measures take effect Wednesday, December 22, 2021, which includes:

  • No indoor organized gatherings of any size, including weddings, receptions, and parties.
  • Maximum of six people per table at a restaurant, pub, or cafe.
  • Gyms, fitness centres and dance studios must be shut down.

We are restricting social gatherings at GEC residences.  No friends or visitors in the unit.  Non-residents might be subject to eviction from the building.

Canada has announced additional border measures to reduce the risk of the COVID-19 and its variants in Canada related to international travel.

As of November 30, all foreign nationals (including students and workers) who have travelled to South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Egypt, Nigeria, Malawi or Namibia in the previous 14 days will not be permitted entry into Canada until January 31, 2022.

In the coming days, all fully vaccinated travellers arriving by air from departure points other than the United States will be subject to arrival testing. Fully vaccinated travellers will be required to quarantine while they await the results of their arrival test.

Unvaccinated travellers, with right of entry to Canada, will continue to be tested on arrival and day 8 and quarantine for 14 days.

**Unless you are move-in into a private apartment at GEC, you will be required to quarantine while await for results.**
